Digital Compass – Guide to the Digital Community

The Digital Compass for Village and Town Renewal is a structured consulting tool that supports municipalities in systematically assessing and strategically developing their level of digitalization. At its core is a two-stage approach: First, an online self-assessment is conducted in six key areas – from digital communication and administrative processes to IT infrastructure and strategy. Building on this, the results are analyzed together with experts from the University for Continuing Education Krems and explored in greater depth during a personal consultation. The goal is to identify concrete potential and develop an individualized digital roadmap with practical measures, suitable tools, and best-practice examples. The benefits for municipalities lie in a clear assessment of their current status, comparable results, and concrete recommendations for the next steps in their digital transformation. The Digital Compass is innovative due to its combination of structured analysis and individualized consulting. The project is being implemented by the Village and Town Renewal program in collaboration with regional consultants. The service is already actively available, and consultation appointments are ongoing. The compass is being developed as part of the Interreg SK-AT project BRIE (Building
Regional Innovation Ecosystems).
