With the online library "DIRENO" (Digital Repository of Lower Austria), the Lower Austrian State Library has implemented a central digital repository in which digitally published materials, retrospective digitizations, and research data are collected, preserved for the long term, and made publicly accessible. The project was realized in cooperation with the IT Department of the Office of the Lower Austrian Provincial Government.
DIRENO enables provincial departments and research institutions to digitally store and sustainably archive regional studies content in a wide variety of formats—from texts to audio, video, and image materials. The content is easily accessible to the public and researchers via a searchable platform with a direct download function.
Thanks to comprehensive metadata enrichment, the content is also easily discoverable via search engines. DIRENO thus strengthens the digital availability of knowledge and supports the sustainable preservation of Lower Austria's cultural and scientific heritage.
