A data space is like a shared, secure workspace where (different)
organizations can interact and share their data from various sources according to clear rules, without relinquishing control. Data is no longer stuck in isolated “data silos,” and information can automatically come together. In the EU-co-funded project DS4LoReMa, the cities of Tulln, Wiener Neustadt, and Ingolstadt are working with the technology and research partners Mbit Solutions, 1701, FOTEC, USTP, greenventory, and INKEK on the technical, organizational, and legal prerequisites for an
innovative data space. The goal is to improve decisions in energy efficiency, irrigation management, and climate adaptation. Real-time data and AI-supported
forecasts will be integrated, among other things, to enable new data-driven applications and services. The Austrian Association of Municipalities is involved in the project as a strategic partner, and the Lower Austrian business agency ecoplus is responsible for coordination. The project runs for 16 months (May 2025 - August 2026) and is currently in the implementation and testing phase of the first
digital tools.
