YCSAD – Young people fighting disinformation

In the YCSAD project, young people analyze disinformation on the internet and develop counter-strategies together with research teams. This strengthens media literacy and raises awareness of digital information quality.

The YCSAD (Young Citizen Scientists Against Disinformation) project investigates disinformation on the internet from the perspective of young adults. The goal is to analyze their experiences and strategies and develop innovative approaches to combat disinformation. The benefits lie in strengthening media literacy and developing a potential platform or tool based on citizen science. The innovative aspect is the participatory approach, in which young people are actively involved as "citizen scientists" in the entire research process. This results in practical solutions and a direct exchange between science and society. Research teams and schools in Lower Austria are participating. The project is currently in the implementation phase with ongoing data collection and testing; the planned project end date is December 2026.
