AI AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR TOURISM
“Digitalization opens up great opportunities—especially in tourism,” emphasizes Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. “With these workshops, we are strengthening digital literacy in the regions and thus contributing to a better future for our children.” AI is no longer an abstract topic of the future. It is changing communication, product development, internal processes—and with it, guests' expectations.
“With our participation, we want to further facilitate access to digital tools for small and medium-sized tourism businesses,” says WKNÖ President Wolfgang Ecker. Smaller businesses in particular benefit from offerings that impart quickly applicable knowledge and bridge the gap between theory and practice.
THREE DATES IN NOVEMBER 2025
The upcoming events are aimed specifically at beginners and offer a thorough introduction to the most important AI tools, terms, and applications in the context of tourism.
OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS SINCE SUMMER 2024
The results so far confirm the need: since summer 2024, more than 500 participants have already taken part in the workshops – a strong sign of the growing interest in the topic. The content is continuously being developed and addresses the specific challenges facing the industry.
The workshops were designed in collaboration with Philipp-Thomas Müller (St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences), who addresses key practical questions: How can AI help with the creation of advertising copy? How can social media posts be made more efficient? Which tools support internal organization or brainstorming for new offerings? The use of ChatGPT in teams and on mobile devices is also discussed.
CREATING STRUCTURE, ENABLING RELIEF
“Our industry thrives on personal service—but also on efficient digital solutions,” explains division chairman Mario Pulker. “AI can relieve us where processes are standardized—and thus create space for genuine hospitality.”
PROGRAM FOR 2026 ALREADY IN THE WORKS
The expanded partnership is a strong signal for the future: "With the Chamber of Commerce as a new partner, we will be able to provide even more targeted support to tourism businesses in the future – and assist them in implementing modern technologies in a practical way. The fact that over 500 people have already participated shows us that we are on the right track. At the same time, we are already working flat out on the program for 2026, which will bring further focal points and in-depth coverage," said Michael Duscher, Managing Director of Niederösterreich Werbung, and Lukas Reutterer, Managing Director of Haus der Digitalisierung, in a joint statement.
