Artificial intelligence (AI) is also a major topic in tourism: the further training series organised by Niederösterreich Werbung, Haus der Digitalisierung and the tourism destinations is proving very popular. The workshop on 5 June in Neuhofen a.d. Ybbs was fully booked with 20 participants.
St. Pölten, 6 June 2025: A joint training series on "KI IM TOURISMUS" was launched last year. Niederösterreich Werbung and Haus der Digitalisierung introduce tourism businesses to the topic of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ and show practical application examples.
Due to the strong demand, a second season of the training series with new key topics was launched this year, and the third round is now underway with new key topics. The current focus is on online marketing as well as product and content development. Yesterday's workshop at the Relax Resort Kothmühle in Neuhofen a.d. Ybbs was fully booked with 20 participants.
‘Artificial intelligence offers enormous opportunities for Lower Austria as a tourism location if we use it in a practical way. We are creating the right environment for this with this further training series: regional, understandable and with real added value for everyday tourism. At the seminars, tourism businesses receive instructions and tips on how they can use AI sensibly in their day-to-day work,’ explains Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
The format was developed in close cooperation with all six tourism destinations in Lower Austria. The previous year already showed that the demand is great, the interest immense and the desire for continuation enormous! Since the start of the training series, over 440 participants from the Lower Austria tourism network have already taken advantage of the opportunity to receive competent and up-to-date guidance and practical tips for the sensible use of AI in everyday tourism.
The new, free continuing education series was once again developed in collaboration with Philipp-Thomas Müller, lecturer at the St. Pölten UAS and the UAS Upper Austria and an expert in data-based marketing, this year focussing on AI-supported offer development and AI-supported marketing.
‘For our businesses, the main question is whether and how AI can improve the booking process, for example, or which tools can help with guest service. How can we make our own communication more efficient and our online marketing even more professional and targeted? There are practical answers to these questions in the workshops,’ explains Michael Duscher, Managing Director of Niederösterreich Werbung.
Andreas Purt, Managing Director of Mostviertel Tourismus, adds: ‘We are delighted that the tourism businesses in the Mostviertel are so committed and open to new technologies. 20 colleagues from tourism and accommodation businesses took advantage of the opportunity for further training!’
The House of Digitalisation also sees the continuation of the series as an important step: ‘AI is not a topic for the future - it is part of everyday life in tourism. This makes it all the more important for companies to learn how to use AI effectively and smartly,’ emphasise the two managing directors Lukas Reutterer and Claus Zeppelzauer.
