The “AI in Tourism” workshop series, organized by Niederösterreich-Werbung and the House of Digitalization, impressively demonstrated in 2024 how important the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) is for tourism businesses.
“With 300 participants in 14 events across all tourism destinations in Lower Austria, the initiative was able to underline its relevance. The positive response to the series of workshops makes it clear that AI is no longer a topic for the future, but a tool that is already setting the course for sustainable success in tourism today,” emphasized Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
The practical events offered companies the opportunity not only to understand AI in theory, but also to discover concrete applications for their work. Topics such as the use of AI tools for social media marketing, booking systems and improving guest services were particularly popular. The focus was always on how modern technologies can support hospitality without replacing it.
“Our businesses want to know what added value AI can bring them in concrete terms,” explains Michael Duscher, Managing Director of Niederösterreich-Werbung. “With this series of workshops, we are offering a practical bridge between technology and tourism that shows how AI can enrich the work of tourism professionals.”
Positive response and new priorities for 2025
“Due to the success of the current year, the 2025 workshop series will be continued with new topics. The content will be evaluated together with experts from the destinations and business coaches by the end of February in order to present a new program at the beginning of May. The aim is to continue to offer businesses practical support and help them integrate AI into their work processes,” emphasize the House of Digitalization's Managing Directors Lukas Reutterer and Claus Zeppelzauer.
Interested parties can still book places for Advance Workshops until the end of February 2025. Dates at www.virtuelleshaus.at
