The initiative is being implemented by the House of Digitalization in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce is also a partner in the events for businesses.

The presentations were given by Ministerial Councilor Martin Merka and Matteo Schnell from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, as well as Max Schernhammer from the Federal Criminal Police Office. They provided information on current online threats and demonstrated how individuals, public institutions, and businesses can better protect themselves.

At the BG/BRG Gmünd school, the focus was on the safe use of social media, the protection of personal data, and potential online scams. Students received practical tips on creating strong passwords, dealing with suspicious messages, and protecting their mobile devices.

At the Gmünd District Authority, the focus was on risks in the workplace. Topics covered included phishing emails, malware, social engineering, and the secure handling of sensitive data.

At the final event at the Gmünd Chamber of Commerce, companies from the region learned about common cyberattacks and simple protective measures. Preparation for potential security incidents and important contact points in case of an emergency were also discussed.

The tour demonstrates that cybersecurity is not just a technical challenge. Awareness, knowledge, and appropriate behavior make a significant contribution to protection against digital attacks. The next stop on the cybersecurity tour will take place in Mistelbach on October 1, 2026. Further information and current dates can be found on our website: www.virtuelleshaus.at.
