Digital security in focus: House of Digitalisation district tour stops in Horn
Digitalisation is advancing rapidly – and with it, the dangers of the internet. To raise awareness of these challenges, the District Cybersecurity Tour, organized by the House of Digitalization and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, has been making stops throughout Lower Austria since 2023. The aim of the initiative is to inform various target groups directly on-site about risks in the digital space and appropriate protective measures.
Yesterday, the tour stopped in the Horn district. Over the course of the day, the tour visited the Horn Federal Gymnasium, the district administration, and the district office of the Chamber of Commerce. Around 140 people – including students, administrative staff, and representatives of regional companies – took the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about IT security.
Alexandra Obermayr and Matteo Schnell from the Federal Ministry of the Interior provided expert input. In their presentations, they vividly demonstrated how digital threat scenarios can be identified and mitigated through organizational and technical measures. They focused not only on theoretical principles but, above all, on concrete recommendations for everyday life – from everyday school life and administrative processes to the corporate use of digital systems.
"The positive response shows that cybersecurity is no longer a niche topic. Especially in schools and professional environments, a clear awareness of potential threats is needed – and the right knowledge to act accordingly," emphasize Lukas Reutterer and Claus Zeppelzauer, Managing Directors of the House of Digitalisation.
The district tour runs until 2026 and will continue in the coming months in Lilienfeld, Neunkirchen, Gänserndorf, and Krems, among others. The initiative is supported by the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Lower Austrian Industries, the Secure Austria Competence Center, and the Microsoft initiative "Make Today Possible Tomorrow."
