Digital strategy using the example of a payment provider

What the Digital Strategy Brings Positioning an innovative payment method touches on many issues. What should the payment method be subconsciously associated with? How can a better customer experience be created than that of international competitors? How can the current business model be further developed into a digital business model? These and other questions were translated into answers and a strategy.

Contactless payment was all the rage in 2020.

 Now, there are numerous apps that integrate payment, simplifying the user experience.

For an innovative payment provider, the initial situation presented a very tight window of opportunity to position itself within specific industries.

The "narrative," the association, had to be developed to emotionally charge the payment method.

The customer experience needed to be improved as a lever for scaling user numbers.

The existing business model had a time limit. The evolution needed to be structured. The endpoint of this evolution should be a digital business model.

The existing organization of the startup needed to be expanded to include the processes used in the project. Therefore, knowledge transfer was a key consideration.

Four goals were identified and linked to a strategy: 

Goal 1: Develop a narrative, visual language, testimonials, and leverage social media influencers 

Goal 2: Create a customer experience for four stakeholders (white labels, private labels, customers, and businesses), encompassing all journeys and touchpoints 

Goal 3: Develop a business model (business-centric, customer-centric, value-centric, and digital business model) 

Goal 4: Develop an organization and transfer knowledge 

Five milestones per goal 

 

Each goal was further divided into five milestones: 

Milestone 1: Current state analysis 

Milestone 2: Ideation 

Milestone 3: Design and Minimum Viable Organization (MVO) 

Milestone 4: Cooperation to MVO 

Milestone 5: Development of an Infinite Process (Development Cycle) 

The four goals were linked to a digital strategy.

The strategy was developed with the involvement of delegates from all teams.

The completed digital strategy was presented to all stakeholders within the company and resulted in streamlined, highly motivated acceptance.

With the support of digital communication experts, high-quality media content was developed for the digital presence and communication. The overall quality and visual appeal were key decision points in the strategy.

The ongoing transfer of expertise ensured the early establishment of the final organizational structure for long-term sustainability.

The company prefers to remain anonymous, as competition remains fierce and media attention is managed primarily through its own channels.

This, too, was a result of the digital strategy.
