The “House of Digitalization” and the Federal Ministry of the Interior are continuing their successful cyber security district tour. The aim of the district tour is to raise awareness of cyber risks, particularly in the areas of education, administration and business. As part of the stop in Mödling, the tour visited a school, the regional district administration and the regional Chamber of Commerce district office. A total of around 350 participants were reached. Practical recommendations for the safe use of IT systems in the school and work environment were provided on site. Martin Merka, Head of Prevention in the Network and Information System Security Department (NIS) at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, gave valuable insights into technical and organizational measures to strengthen cyber security in his presentations.

Since 2023, the “House of Digitalization” has established itself as a hub in the field of digitalization in Lower Austria. In addition to AI, there is a focus on cyber security, as advancing digitalization brings both opportunities and risks. Cyber attacks can have devastating consequences: from data loss and production downtime to massive financial damage. Awareness and prevention are therefore essential to protect companies and public institutions.

The cyber security district tour will reach all districts of Lower Austria by 2026. Over 1,470 participants have already benefited from the content of the tour in 2023. So far, the 2024 tour has reached around 500 participants. Other partners of the district tour are the Lower Austrian Chamber of Commerce, IV-NÖ, the Competence Center for a Secure Austria (KSÖ) and the Microsoft Austria initiative “Make tomorrow possible today”.

Further dates for the district tour are already planned for 2025 in the districts of Korneuburg, Horn, Lilienfeld, Neunkirchen and Gänserndorf. At the same time, the “House of Digitalization” is offering special cybersecurity days for municipalities to support key players at municipal level. Another focus from 2025 will be training adults and teachers in cyber security and cyber prevention.

“The district tour stop in Mödling shows once again how important it is to actively address cyber security. Through targeted education, practical tips and preventative measures, the tour helps to raise awareness of cyber threats,” emphasize Haus der Digitalisierung Managing Directors Lukas Reutterer and Claus Zeppelzauer.
