An important prerequisite for being able to carry out work in the forest quickly and correctly is knowing what needs to be done by when and where. Verbally explaining to someone where a freshly infested beetle tree is located or where a treetop has broken off is often a major challenge. In many cases, locating the damaged area, explaining the access route and much more involves more effort than the task itself.
With the help of the FORSTDOK app, forestry work is to be digitally optimized.
Building on the DIH-OST workshop “FORSTDOK - digital forest management”, goals were developed for a tool for optimized forestry work with the help of IoT, which are now being prototypically implemented in the “FORSTDOK” project.
Proactively involved are:
- Lower Austrian Chamber of Agriculture
- Forest coordination center
- Some forest enterprises
Increasing efficiency in the area of forestry work
Design thinking workshops to clarify requirements - completed
The first visualizations are currently being created.
The end result should be an open source software that supports the entire forestry sector
