House of Digitalization and State Health Agency deepen cooperation Joint goal: Making digitalization in healthcare visible

Digitalization is fundamentally changing healthcare—from medical documentation and everyday hospital life to doctor-patient communication. To ensure that this change is not only successful from a technological perspective but also supported by society, transparent information, genuine insights, and room for dialogue are needed. This is precisely where the in-depth collaboration between the House of Digitalization and the Lower Austrian Provincial Health Agency (LGA) comes in.

Together, the two institutions want to make digital innovations in the healthcare sector visible, tangible, and understandable for the population of Lower Austria. The focus is not only on technical progress, but above all on the question of what concrete benefits digital applications bring to patients, relatives, and healthcare workers.

The House of Digitalization in Tulln will serve as a stage for tried-and-tested technologies from Lower Austrian clinics. In formats where digital innovations are exhibited in the atrium of the House of Digitalization, applications from everyday clinical practice are given visibility – supplemented by demonstrations and moderated discussion formats. At the open house, for example, an AI-supported doctor-patient consultation was presented – an example of how artificial intelligence can provide safe and comprehensible support.

“We want to show what digitalization can achieve—in concrete terms and close to people's everyday lives,” says Claus Zeppelzauer, managing director of the House of Digitalization. Lukas Reutterer adds: “This requires places where people don't just talk about technology, but reflect on it together. That's exactly what we offer here.”

The state health agency is also pursuing this approach. It already relies on digital tools that measurably improve everyday care. One example is automatic speech recognition for creating doctor's letters and findings—precise, efficient, and relieving the burden on medical staff.

“This solution reduces the administrative workload for our doctors and frees up more time for what really matters: the patients,” says Bernhard Kadlec, CEO of LGA. “It also shortens waiting times for test results in outpatient care—a clear benefit for the population.”

Digital solutions also improve working conditions in hospitals. “The satisfaction of our employees is a key concern for us,” emphasizes Gerhard Dafert, CEO of LGA. “Digital applications such as speech recognition are an important component in reducing workloads and further strengthening our attractiveness as an employer.”

In an age of increasing specialization and technological dynamism, it is crucial to involve the population in this change. The House of Digitalization aims to contribute to this as a place of exchange, transparency, and trust. Digital achievements from Lower Austria are given a platform here: they are not only presented, but can also be tried out, discussed, and further developed together.
