House of Digitalization Cybersecurity District Tour in the Baden District 320 participants at three events for schools, administration, and businesses

The district tour "Cybersecurity on Tour" visited the Baden district yesterday, reaching approximately 320 participants with three events in one day. The joint initiative of the House of Digitalization and the Ministry of the Interior aims to raise awareness among diverse target groups throughout Lower Austria about current threats in the digital sphere and to provide concrete recommendations for greater security in everyday life and at work.

The first stop on the tour was at the Baden Higher Technical College (HLA Baden). There, the focus was on students, who were sensitized to key cybersecurity issues through an awareness presentation tailored to their everyday lives. The presentations were given by Martin Merka, who heads the Awareness Unit in the Network and Information Systems Security (NIS) department at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, his colleague Matteo Schnell, and Maximilian Schernhammer from the Lower Austrian State Criminal Police Office.

At lunchtime, the tour stopped at the Baden District Authority. There, the presentation was specifically aimed at state employees and addressed the challenges that arise in the professional environment due to digital risks and new threat scenarios.

The tour concluded with an evening event at the Baden branch of the regional Chamber of Commerce. Companies from the region received a practical overview of current cyber threats and guidance on how to effectively implement protective measures in their workplaces.

The stop in Baden once again demonstrated the importance of targeted information on cybersecurity. The next dates for the regional tour are already set: May 7, 2026, in Melk and June 18 in Gmünd.
