“The House of Digitalization demonstrates how we understand digitalization in Lower Austria: practical, responsible, and with tangible benefits for people and businesses. The strong demand in the first half of the year confirms we are on the right track. At the same time, the House is continuously setting new priorities – from imparting digital skills to contributing to the development of Lower Austria’s first AI strategy. This strengthens our economic position and provides guidance in a phase of rapid technological development,” emphasizes Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.
Digitalization up close: strong demand at the exhibition and Science Center
The current multimedia exhibition, “Is Digital the Solution? – Innovations for Our Future,” has been visited by approximately 6,300 people since the beginning of the year. Interactive exhibits – from the world of binary code to creating your own 3D hologram – vividly and accessibly convey the opportunities, challenges, and concrete applications of digital transformation.
The Science Center Lower Austria, the science department of the State of Lower Austria, is also experiencing high demand. In the first half of the year, 203 workshops were held in the Digital Technologies (DigiLab) and Biotechnology laboratories. More than 3,000 workshop participants experimented with 3D printing, laser cutters, and virtual reality, among other things, or gained insights into biotechnological processes. Additionally, the escape room "The Secret of the Elixir" welcomed around 420 players.
36 Events with Approximately 2,730 Guests at the House
From January to June, 36 events with approximately 2,730 guests took place at the physical House of Digitalization. The program ranged from "AI Insider" and "Public AI" to trade fairs and corporate events, culminating in the launch of the "SIE & AI" initiative and the Lower Austrian Innovation Award. In addition, the House of Digitalization network implemented 57 workshops and events in the regions, with around 1,800 participants. The focus was on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and practical support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
... “The figures show that the House of Digitalization is developing very well as a place for learning, experimentation, and networking. However, for us, it's not just the reach that's crucial, but the concrete benefits. We identify current developments early on, translate them into understandable and applicable formats, and bring these offerings directly to companies and regions. After the summer, we will consistently continue this approach with new formats for specific target groups,” emphasize Lukas Reutterer and Claus Zeppelzauer, Managing Directors of the House of Digitalization.
DGTL SUMMER and digi4Wirtschaft voting continues until the end of July
Currently, the House of Digitalization is hosting the “DGTL SUMMER.” This media art festival combines exhibitions, live performances, workshops, and discussions, also utilizing the 311-square-meter LED screen as an artistic tool. The special exhibition can be viewed free of charge until Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Public voting for the digi4Wirtschaft project of the year 2026 is also open until July 31st. Twelve Lower Austrian digitalization projects are up for selection. You can vote at www.abstimmungdigi4wirtschaft.at.
New offerings for businesses starting in September
Following the summer, the successful "SHE & AI" initiative, in collaboration with Women in Business Lower Austria and Digital Austria, will be further expanded. Two consecutive formats are planned: an accessible introductory and awareness course on the functionality, opportunities, risks, data protection, and responsible use of generative AI, and an in-depth practical course in which participants will work on their own tasks and concrete applications.
In addition, a new free workshop series specifically for the hospitality industry will launch in the fall. With this, the House of Digitalization is further expanding its offerings for various sectors and will continue to provide targeted support for the digital competitiveness of Lower Austrian companies in the second half of the year.
