Digitalization is continuously transforming the way we work and opening up exciting new opportunities in a wide range of industries. In the context of the FOTEC research project ISI (Innovative Software Systems and Their Implementation), two notable initiatives dedicated to this trend are the projects by R-Space and Kotanyi. Both are using innovative technologies to revolutionize their respective industries and set new standards in system integration.

R-Space: Pioneering work in space

R-Space, a young company based in Wiener Neustadt, aims to revolutionize the launch of CubeSats and the integration of payloads. The company is developing a modular CubeSat bus that accommodates generic payloads in separate payload containers. This enables flexible and cost-effective pre-testing of payloads for their integration capability.

At the heart of this project, which is being carried out as part of the ISI research project, is state-of-the-art test software that acts as a digital twin and runs on .NET. This software continuously checks currents and voltages, enables communication via I2C, and stores all relevant data. This allows payload communication to be checked for PEI (Payload Electrical Interface) compliance. This innovative solution promises to significantly increase the efficiency and reliability of space missions.

Kotanyi: Increasing efficiency in production

Kotanyi, a traditional company known for its high-quality spices, is working on a groundbreaking system for monitoring and error detection in production environments as part of the ISI research project. The aim is to improve efficiency and quality in production through the use of state-of-the-art technologies.

Kotanyi's monitoring system offers flexible camera assignment for production lines and individual recording configurations to ensure optimal data capture. Automatic error detection saves recordings when errors are identified, enabling rapid analysis and correction. A crucial part of the project is the evaluation of different cameras to find the best options for recording quality, FPS, and connectivity options. This advanced system promises to significantly optimize production processes at Kotanyi and further improve product quality.

Conclusion

The projects by R-Space and Kotanyi are impressive examples of how digitalization is driving efficiency and innovation in various areas as part of the ISI research project. R-Space is bringing a breath of fresh air to space research with its modular CubeSat bus and intelligent test software, while Kotanyi is revolutionizing production processes with a sophisticated monitoring system. Both initiatives demonstrate how digital solutions can help overcome complex challenges and set new standards.
