In the world of the Internet of Things (IoT), different technologies are required for different use cases. For example, a sensor in a remote field requires an energy-efficient solution because neither Wi-Fi nor a power connection is available. A different device in a warehouse with power and Wi-Fi connectivity, on the other hand, needs to send and process data more frequently. These different requirements often lead to data silos, as each technology has its own interfaces, making it difficult to integrate and process the collected data.
This is where the BISS Data Agent (BDA) comes in. The BDA offers a solution for integrating various IoT technologies and already supports networks such as LoRa via Drei and TheThingsNetwork, NB-IoT devices via the Microtronics API, senseBox devices via the OpenSenseMap API, and Wi-Fi. Thanks to its flexible software architecture, additional connections can be integrated quickly and easily.
The BDA has proven its worth in various projects. In the IXchange project, it is used for the collaborative use of data. In the Dataskop project, it helps visualize data in its physical context. Furthermore, in the Smart Communities project, the BDA enables IoT connectivity for rural communities. The BDA is also being used in collaboration with essecca to efficiently collect and process data.
The BISS Data Agent demonstrates how versatile and powerful a well-designed IoT integration solution can be. Whether in the field, in the warehouse, or in rural communities – the BDA offers the flexibility and efficiency needed to successfully support various IoT use cases.
