Blockchain technologies have garnered significant attention in recent years, particularly regarding their role in novel financial products and so-called cryptocurrencies. However, other applications and many fundamental aspects of blockchain technologies have been neglected. This includes, for example, the cryptographic primitives upon which they are based and the means of controlling access to information linked to or stored in distributed ledgers. Furthermore, the issue of security management for such large and highly distributed systems has not yet been addressed systematically or adequately.
The main goal of this Josef Ressel Center is to make future-proof blockchain-based technologies accessible to a wider audience. This also includes supporting companies in the secure implementation and integration of blockchain technologies into their systems and applications.
