Life Cycle Costing in Rail Transport
The cost management method Life Cycle Costing (LCC) has become increasingly important in transport, infrastructure, and railway companies, particularly in recent years. A previous project by MC Mobility Consultants in collaboration with the South African state-owned passenger rail company (PRASA) therefore identifies enormous application potential for LCC.

The St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, together with its partners: MC Mobility Consultants GmbH, University of Stellenbosch and PRASA Engineering, is exploring challenges and solutions regarding an integrated LCC platform in the presence of insufficient data.
The study examines which platforms for data exchange and LCC exist, how suitable these are for use in countries like South Africa, and what influence government decisions have on the modelability of LCC.
