Making digitalization tangible: Annual report 2025 at the ecoplus House of Digitalization

With the exhibitions “Smart Data + You” and “Is Digital the Solution?”, a total of 71 events at the ecoplus House of Digitalization, 68 additional formats throughout Lower Austria, and a diverse range of educational offerings at the Science Center, around 19,000 people were reached in person in 2025. The focus was on concrete access to digitalization – for companies, educational institutions, and the general public.

“The House of Digitalization brings together business, education, and society. It demonstrates how digitalization can be tangible and used effectively – not in theory, but through direct interaction with people across the country. With the new formats and the cooperation with the Austrian Armed Forces, we will provide further targeted impetus in 2026,” explains Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner.

Future-oriented content, new target groups, and deepened collaborations

Next year, two key areas will be central to the content development: artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. “Digitalks on Tour” will continue, with a focus on agentic AI and data literacy. The workshop formats on prompting and the “AI in Tourism” series also address current issues and are specifically aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Lower Austria.

In addition, a new school tour will launch in 2026 in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Defence: “Who Controls the Likes?” is aimed at young people and addresses the mechanisms of digital opinion formation, international influence, and cyber risks. In addition, parent evenings are offered in cooperation with the Lower Austrian Education Directorate to involve the immediate social environment.

The Science Center in the House of Digitalization remains a central component of the educational offerings. The laboratories for digital technologies and biotechnology, as well as the escape room, will continue to operate and be further developed.

New Target Groups in Focus

From 202 three additional target groups will be given greater focus:

  • People aged 55 and over, for whom low-threshold opportunities for digital participation will be developed;
  • women, particularly in the context of changes brought about by AI in the workplace;
  • and municipalities, which will be supported and actively involved in the implementation of digital solutions.

This expansion of content will contribute to anchoring digital skills even more broadly in society and supporting regional developments.

“2025 demonstrated the importance of presenting digital topics in an understandable and accessible way. Next year, we will be strategically expanding our offerings to include a focus on AI and new target groups. Digitalization must be conceived and communicated in a way that is practical for everyday life – and we are working on this together with our partners,” said Lukas Reutterer and Claus Zeppelzauer, Managing Directors of ecoplus House of Digitalization.
