MEETeUX - Multi-Device Ecologies Towards Elaborate User Experience

MEETeUX (Multi-Device Ecologies Towards Elaborate User Experience) designs usage scenarios for the integration of various end devices, demonstrating the use of multi-device ecologies in semi-public spaces. The focus is on integrating users' own devices ("Bring Your Own Device," typically smartphones) into existing device ecologies.

A vast array of technologies now offers diverse applications for the public. Smartphones are ubiquitous, multi-touch tabletops are already widely and economically deployed, and information walls in the form of monitor walls or projections are being used cost-effectively yet in considerable sizes.
 
 
However, for the future meaningful and integrated use of these devices in semi-public spaces, proven interaction design and user experience concepts are still lacking to enable the technologies to be used as easily and accessibly as possible for everyone.
 
 
MEETeUX addresses questions in the areas of interaction design and user experience design for the integrated use of media technology devices in multi-device ecosystems.
 
 
Using personal devices also allows for adaptation to the specific needs of users, thus improving accessibility. Museums and especially science centers increasingly want to use advanced technology to convey their content, or already do so, and are therefore particularly well-suited as exemplary use cases. The smartphone thus becomes a knowledge transmitter.
 
 
The project focuses on identifying general guidelines and best practice examples, as well as developing a fully functional prototype for integrating visitors' own devices into existing multi-device ecologies, using the application example of knowledge transfer in museums.
