Unfortunately, there are currently no alternative activities available in Lackenhof besides or after skiing. Therefore, creating a year-round attraction is crucial. The Weitental cross-country ski trail (from Eibenkogel to Kinderland) needs to be made usable in summer as well, requiring appropriate reinforcement. Advantages: The route of this hiking trail/cross-country ski trail is centrally located (so a car isn't strictly necessary); the trail is versatile and can be used as a cross-country ski trail, hiking trail, roller ski trail, circular hiking trail (including the Christmas market), and as an alternative to or after skiing; it's entertaining for children due to the many small stations and refreshment stops; and the floodlit cross-country ski trail in the village is unique in Lower Austria, isn't it?
The Ötscher mountain experience in the valley is suitable for young and old alike and is the counterpart to those who hike to the summit of the Ötscher. It's perfect for grandparents and grandchildren – even if the parents take a lift ride to the mountain hut or try their hand at archery. No major interventions in nature are required; on the contrary, the area is designed to be close to nature, featuring wildflower meadows and various themed areas centered around nature. Simply enjoy the time in a natural setting at the energy (seating) spots with views of the imposing Ötscher mountain. Floodlights provide an alternative and evening program, as well as space for events like the Lackenhof Mountain Christmas Market with its punch stalls.
Perfect for a wider range of guests, including those who are not yet very mobile (1+ years old) and, thanks to the gentle slopes, also those who are not so mobile (up to 99 years old). Stays are very flexible, ranging from one hour to a full day. Open in both summer and winter. The pond is used for swimming in the summer and as an ice skating rink and curling rink in the winter (weather permitting). The area (from the swimming pond to Weitentalstraße) also offers the option of a small zip line – perhaps even one that crosses the swimming pond. Anything is possible...
As already mentioned, the mountain experience in the valley can be enjoyed year-round, even with floodlights. Many attractions; a gently sloping path; suitable for strollers; for older visitors; roller skis; barefoot stations; water and ball play stations; a small zip line; mountain farmer's golf (a rustic mini-golf variant); a swimming pond; an archery course (existing); in winter: a cross-country ski trail with floodlights, a circular route for the mountain Christmas celebration in Lackenhof; tobogganing; ice skating and curling on the frozen swimming pond (minimal effort, as it's possible when ice is present); and refreshments available at existing restaurants.
