As part of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network for Smart and Sustainable European Regions (E.I.N.S.), the new E.I.N.S. Open Innovation Hub “Creative Industries and Digital Media” was presented in March 2023. As a new innovation center at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, the hub sees itself as a catalyst for creativity, innovation, and growth in the creative industries and digital media in St. Pölten and at the European level.
Through funding from the European Commission's EIT HEI initiative, St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences has established a novel international network for entrepreneurship and innovation. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network for Smart and Sustainable European Regions was launched by the European University E³UDRES², coordinated by St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, in collaboration with the University Industry Interaction Network (UIIN).
The EIT HEI E.I.N.S. project promotes the transformation of teaching and research results into new, marketable products and services through business start-ups and other forms of knowledge transfer. Seven universities and non-university research institutions from the European University E³UDRES² have joined forces in this network to foster entrepreneurship and innovation in their regions.
Within the framework of innovative pillars such as Entrepreneurial Education, Connected Research & Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer, events are held in innovative formats. These events feature presentations by international and local experts, changemakers, and start-ups. Furthermore, EIT HEI E.I.N.S. develops, designs, and implements novel event formats such as open lectures and workshops, as well as hackathons like the OpenGLAM Culture Hackathon 2023.
Since March 2023, the new E.I.N.S. Innovation Hub “Creative Industries and Digital Media” has been operational. It represents the activities and support opportunities for the regional startup and business community.
The Open Innovation Hubs offerings range from entrepreneurial training activities to support for regional startups and entrepreneurs. Innovations originating from students and researchers at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences are intended to promote and support the founding of companies.
Regional Hub at the European Level
The hub's regional and European networking activities aim to enable researchers and students, startups and entrepreneurs, as well as investors and policymakers, to collaborate on challenges and new opportunities in the creative industries and digital media.
“We offer our cooperation partners access to state-of-the-art facilities at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences, training courses, workshops, and hackathons,” explains Malgorzata Zofia Goraczek, who coordinates the hub at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. “We connect partners with mentors and provide networking opportunities and resources to support the development of new ideas, products, services, and business models.”
The innovative hub is headed by Franz Fidler, PhD (Head of the Department of Media and Digital Technologies at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences) and Thomas Moser, PhD (Head of the Institute for Creative\Media/Technologies at St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences).
