Why Artificial Intelligence?
Technological developments such as artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly important for all sectors of the economy. As part of the campus development, the Center for Artificial Intelligence (CAI) was newly established at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. The Institutes for Creative\Media/Technologies and IT Security Research, as well as the Institute for Innovation Systems, are involved.
What solutions will the Center for Artificial Intelligence provide?
Artificial intelligence is already used in many areas of everyday business (search engines, chatbots, etc.). Founded in 2021, the Center aims to advance research in the field of AI and places people at its core.
Areas of Application
The Center focuses on various key areas. The applications are diverse and wide-ranging, including:
è Severe weather forecasts via interference data from mobile networks
è Soil composition analyses for the real estate market
è Archaeological rock analyses
è Physiotherapeutic analyses of human gait patterns
è Identification of fake news or discriminatory posts on social networks
è Operational use of robotics, conversational bots, or data analytics
Impact – Results & Outlook
Against the backdrop of theory-practice transformation and application, projects are conducted not only in research projects but also in collaboration with companies, networks, and research institutions.
Collaboration & Projects with Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
Cooperations are offered in the form of publicly funded R&D projects, commissioned projects, consulting projects, and business projects. Furthermore, research at the University of Applied Sciences is strongly integrated into teaching. Lecturers and students are continuously involved in research projects. Artificial Intelligence is already firmly established at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences. Students benefit from a Bachelor's and Master's program specializing in Data Science. In addition, AI-related content is taught in the Smart Engineering Bachelor's program and in various Master's programs. These educational formats cultivate expertise for the Austrian economy.
