At the Dyk Mill, which has been milling flour in Raabs an der Thaya for centuries, purchasing and sales were long managed using Excel. However, it always took new employees some time to familiarize themselves with the system and the spreadsheets. Furthermore, the process was prone to errors.
Therefore, a brand-new inventory system was developed in collaboration with a software company from Vitis. This system is real-time and easy to understand. Currently, both the new system and Excel are being used in a trial phase. If the new system works well, a new era will soon begin at the Dyk Mill. This is particularly important for the rapid traceability of food products.
The next digital step for the mill will be remote control, eliminating the need for someone to be on call day and night.
As part of the "Showcase Network House of Digitalization" initiative, we highlight a successful digitalization project from Lower Austria each month.
