Smart City - Consulting workshops for municipalities
Background
The "Internet of Things" (IoT) refers to the networking of "things"—that is, objects, devices, or sensors—via the internet.
In the municipal sector, IoT applications will increasingly be used in the future, for example, for parking management, flood protection, traffic control and safety, lighting, and smart waste management (level monitoring for glass, metal, or textile containers, reduction of contaminants), among others.

Objectives
Workshop Objectives
- Recognizing the potential of IoT for your municipality
- Developing ideas for process optimization in your municipality
- Identifying common problems that can be solved with the help of IoT
Program
Day 1 (2.5 hours)
- Project presentation DIH-OST
- Evaluation of the current situation in the municipalities and identification of further potential
- Overview of IoT possibilities and connectivity options
- Technical presentations and case studies
- Assessment and comparison of the need for IoT solutions
- Grouping participants' areas of interest and defining next steps
Day 2 (2.5 hours)
- Presentation and discussion of the technical solutions from the areas of interest in Part 1
- Presentation of an overall concept
- Costs and potential implementation in the individual municipalities Discussed
Milestones
Pilot Workshop with the City of Tulln
In the pilot workshop, we want to evaluate the format and adapt it to the specific requirements of the municipalities.
Outcome
Following the pilot workshop, we plan to roll out this format and offer it throughout Austria.
