SoilCover

Soil Cover offers a method for quickly and easily determining the soil cover of a field using a smartphone (image analysis algorithm for camera images). The aim of the project was to investigate, develop, and validate algorithms for objectively determining the soil cover of organic and inorganic matter on agricultural land using imaging object-structuring methods.

A method for robustly measuring ground cover from a camera image. Integration of the method into a web service and smartphone app.

 

The aim of the project was to investigate, develop, and validate algorithms for objectively determining the degree of ground cover of organic and inorganic matter on agricultural land using imaging object-structuring methods. These algorithms should enable the separation of image information into living biomass, dead biomass, and inorganic material (e.g., stones). The evaluation should be performed using mobile data acquisition systems via a client-server architecture so that the results are immediately available to the user on the surveyed area. The results obtained should provide a basis for further commercial and scientific applications.
