On October 20, an important milestone for Austria's digital future was reached in Tulln: The Ministry of Defense and the House of Digitalization signed a cooperation agreement. Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner were present – a strong signal of the importance of the topic.

The goal of the collaboration is to strengthen Austria's digital resilience. Because one thing is clear: digitalization affects not only the economy and everyday life, but also our security. Minister Tanner sums it up: "We are pooling knowledge and resources to further strengthen Austria's digital defense capabilities – and to sensitize young people to risks in cyberspace."

Governor Mikl-Leitner also sees the cooperation as a strategic alliance: "Civilian and military forces will work more closely together in the future to make Lower Austria more resilient in the digital space." The roadshow "Who Controls the Likes?" – an initiative designed to raise awareness among schoolchildren about digital manipulation – will start in January 2026. In addition, the House of Digitalization will be used as a venue for joint cyber exercises in the future.

The partnership is long-term: Workshops, seminars, and research projects are planned. Information officers from the Austrian Armed Forces will also educate schools and public events about digital risks in the future. And the Austrian Armed Forces can use the House's infrastructure for training and exercises.

Lukas Reutterer, Managing Director of the House of Digitalization, emphasizes: "Cybersecurity is a central focus of our work. The cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Consumer Protection is an important step toward prevention – especially in the area of social media."

The first joint projects have already been confirmed:

  • The 2026 Roadshow
  • for students and parents
  •
  • A training course for managers of critical infrastructures in December 2025 – together with NATO specialist agencies
  •
  • An information event for SMEs with practical insights into current threats

A strong alliance – for a secure, sovereign, and future-proof digital Austria.
