The Tulli has become an integral part of Tulln's cityscape. A digital prototype was created during a community hackathon, vividly demonstrating the potential of digitizing operations. In a follow-up project commissioned by the city of Tulln, employees from FOTEC and MBIT prepared this prototype for real-world operation. Since July 8, 2026, the Tulli Express has been live.
Three Building Blocks for One System
The solution consists of several interacting components:
• Tulli App: A constant companion on board, the app continuously reports the Tulli's location. It allows users to start operations, activate special trips, and adjust the next stop.
• Admin App: The control center in the background – the city uses this to set stops and operating hours.
• Customer App: Keeps passengers informed. A map shows them the Tulli's current location and provides all the essential information about their journey.
Follow Tulli live
If you'd like to follow Tulli live, you can do so anytime at https://tulliroute.tulln.at. The website's design closely resembles the results of the hackathon, but it has been specifically developed for real-world use and optimized for mobile devices.
From a hackathon prototype to a productive solution for a community: Tulli Express demonstrates how a good idea can quickly become a practical, everyday system.
