How do we protect ourselves from cybercrime? What can SMEs do to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization while simultaneously protecting themselves from risks?

We've all probably used a password like 123456 or something similar at some point. But by 2022 at the latest, it's time for us to stop, because passwords are among the most important security elements. Besides strong passwords, there's much more we can do to protect our data!

And this is important: While digitalization offers many opportunities and opens up new possibilities, we also need to protect ourselves from potential threats. Therefore, it's particularly important to address IT security and make your company IT-secure.

Since attacks on companies are increasing and a major risk factor is human error, we must ask ourselves – have we given enough thought to IT security? Does the company have a strategy to protect against attacks? Are my employees or colleagues adequately trained to recognize security risks such as phishing emails, or is there room for improvement?

Because we protect our data not only with strong passwords – which most of us are aware of – but also by encrypting data and simply locking our laptops or other devices when leaving the workplace. In addition, it's also very important to regularly back up company data, keep software up-to-date, and much more!
