In the recently concluded FFG qualification seminar "ARbau – Augmented Reality in Construction," 10 companies learned how and why they can use Augmented Reality (AR in their business practices.
The innovation-oriented companies were not only shown the potential of AR for their individual businesses, but they are now also able to independently identify and evaluate further application areas in order to implement them. Each company created its own AR transformation map for this purpose.
Subsequently, the participants integrated their own content, such as data from their products, into an AR software environment.
"The final result depends on the quality of the data model." "Change management and a positive communication culture can help open channels for technology acceptance." "During the planning phase, it is essential to gather perspectives from those not directly affected to obtain an external viewpoint."
Conclusion: Several of the project partners will definitely use AR as a technology within their companies, particularly for product presentations. They will utilize the tools learned during the project. At least one company is planning to implement a custom-developed solution for product presentations on their buildings.
This project has clearly demonstrated that AR is a technology of the future. Currently, applications are primarily available on smartphones, tablets, and PCs due to their high computing power. However, AR glasses will soon become mainstream, just as smartphones did. AR technology providers are already collaborating with traditional eyewear brands – the next generation of AR glasses will resemble those already worn by approximately half the population. We can look forward to it with great anticipation!
