Developments in the field of digitalisation are enormous, and up-to-date specialist knowledge is essential. In order to provide targeted support to tourism businesses, a joint training series on ‘AI in Tourism’ was launched in 2024 by Niederösterreich Werbung, Haus der Digitalisierung and the tourism destinations in Lower Austria. In this series, tourism businesses are introduced to the topic of artificial intelligence by speakers with extensive expertise and can gain experience with practical application examples.
Due to strong demand, a second season of the training series with new focal points was launched this year, and the third round is currently underway. A workshop for businesses from the Waldviertel and Danube Lower Austria regions took place at Haindorf Castle on 18 June 2025.
‘Our participating companies focused primarily on AI support for product development and marketing. Our colleagues participated in the workshop with great interest and commitment and received many practical answers to the pressing questions facing the industry,’ explain Tom Bauer, Managing Director of Waldviertel Tourism, and Bernhard Schröder, Managing Director of Danube Lower Austria Tourism.
Currently, online marketing, product and content development are the focus of the free workshops. The training series was developed in collaboration with Philipp-Thomas Müller, lecturer at the St. Pölten University of Applied Sciences and the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, as well as an expert in data-based marketing. Basic knowledge and the use of specific tools are taught. The events focus on developing practical solutions and exchanging ideas with other businesses.
